This archive includes the full text of all articles that were published on the Harvard Asia Quarterly Web site (formerly haqonline.org) since it went online in 2001. The archive does not include any material from the first two years of HAQ's operations, 1997-8.
Please note that not every article in the print edition was published online, and that a small number of articles were run as 'online exclusives' and were not carried in the print edition.
Due to the fact that the articles were published online over a period of some years by various people using different Web publishing methods, some inconsistencies of formatting and presentation (particularly with regard to endnotes) are inevitable. It is our hope to eventually make the entire archive available in a uniform style, but please accept it as is for the time being.
We regularly receive e-mails requesting contact information for authors of pieces who have published with HAQ in the past. We are pleased to oblige such requests whenever possible, but please understand that given the regular turnover of staff at a student-run magazine, we may have lost touch with some of our past contributors.
If the article you are looking for is not in this archive and you cannot access the print edition of a past issue and need access to an article, it is possible to purchase copies of past issues at Ivy Media. It is also possible to subscribe to the print edition at this site.
The journal is indexed by the British Library, and page references for articles on this Web site can be found by searching for "Harvard Asia Quarterly" at British Library Direct (where articles can also be purchased for a fee).
