Our objective at Harvard Asia Quarterly is to provide commentary and analysis by scholars of various backgrounds on issues affecting contemporary Asia. We aim to publish material that is interesting and accessible to a general informed readership, while maintaining the highest scholarly standards.

We will carefully review any material sent to us for consideration for publication in the journal, but please be aware that in general we prefer papers that are written in response to a projected theme for an issue. Themes will be posted on this page, as well as sent to various scholarly discussion lists (such as H-ASIA), as they become available. Please address all submissions to editor@asiaquarterly.com.

Articles submitted for consideration by the journal go through a process of informal peer review before they are accepted for editing. Acceptance of an article for review should not be construed as a guarantee of publication. HAQ reserves the right to edit any submitted article for length, content and grammatical errors - most articles go through several rounds of editing before they are ready for publication. Proofs will be returned to the author for approval before publication.

HAQ expects authors to abide by principles of academic integrity and intellectual honesty. Authors remain solely responsible for the accuracy and content of solicited and submitted articles. Authors are solely responsible for obtaining permission to include copyrighted materials in submitted articles. Only original material that has not appeared elsewhere shall be considered for publication in the journal.

We favor articles with limited internal documentation (i.e. charts, graphs, etc.) and request that authors provide references in the form of Endnotes using Arabic numerals (i.e. 1, 2, 3, etc.). If pictures or photographs are to accompany the article, please obtain permission from the copyright holder to publish them before passing them on to us. Please send any images to us in .jpg form at the highest resolution available to you.

HAQ reserves the right to publish any submitted article (including all text, graphics, and photographs) in any current or future issue of HAQ in print, electronically, or in any other media. Upon publication, HAQ shall own the copyright to any published material except for previously published material and where other express arrangements have been made. Articles published in HAQ may be republished by the author or by HAQ. HAQ retains copyrights to materials published in HAQ.

This journal is indexed by EBSCO Publishing, and past articles are made available through their online databases, as well as on this Web site.
